Principled Participation
Citizens who have a naturalistic worldview need to be part of the civic fabric in proportion to their numbers. They should not hold back from opportunities to participate fully in government, education, business, community, service, and other civic arenas.
Suggestions:
- Be active
- Volunteer for committees, commissions, tasks, etc. that offer opportunities to be viewed as a contributing citizen.
- Be an activist
- Recognize and pursue opportunities for involvement and service that are conducive to pressing for civic equality (e.g., situations that allow you to exercise openness, visibility, and constructive engagement as already described).
- Be at your best
- Undertake to build the trust of citizens at large.
- Have awareness that you may be viewed as representative of others who have a naturalistic worldview.
